Amar’e Stoudemire Beefs With Fan On Twitter

I’m not sure where the line is drawn between being offended and thus defending yourself, and just being plain ignorant. Knicks big man Amar’e Stoudemire recently walked that line, as he apparently direct messaged one of his Twitter followers, calling him a “fag.” The incident stemmed from the fan sending Stoudemire a message on the Twitter social network about working hard in the off-season, after which Amar’e sent the fan a direct message that only the fan could read:

Whoa. Talk about being overly sensitive. That’s not the way you should respond to fans who generate the revenue to pay your salary, Mr. Stoudemire. Fans have the right to voice their opinions, and the fan who Tweeted you didn’t say anything too terrible to warrant that kind of response. At least next time man up and do it in public. Pff.

  • This guy called him a Pu$$y .. I don’t think I would have been civil with him either fan or not

  • Amare once sent me a DM that came off inappropriate as well, its the guy M.O. I am going to love watching this blow up in his face.

  • The fan was totally out of line! just because you are a professional athlete does not give the past the right to insult you! some of the fans are totally out of control! Amare has a family and children! that fan should be lucky that’s all did! if that fan would have said that to me in my face I would have knocked him out! I don’t blame Amare! Some of these fans need to be put in their place!
