Arian Foster reaches out to disgruntled Andre Johnson
Wide receiver Andre Johnson’s future in Houston is unclear with training camp just around the corner. Johnson has made it known that he wants to be traded, but it looks like the Texans don’t intend on granting his wish.
Teammate Arian Foster has reached out to Johnson, texting him and telling him how important he is to the team and the city of Houston. Here is what Foster had to say when speaking to KPRC-TV on Tuesday.
“He is Houston,” Foster said. “I remember when I had my little run where I had back-to-back like great seasons and I felt like this city loves me, they love me here. Everywhere I go this is still Dre’s city. I don’t care if James Harden is walking around or Dwight Howard or whatever. This is Andre’s city.”
“I would love to have him here, but ultimately that’s one of my friends outside of the field. I want him to do what’s best for him,” Foster said. “If he doesn’t feel like playing anymore and wants to hang them up, I’m going to support him 100 percent. If he wants to come back and help us win, I’m all for that as well.”
Training camp kicks off July 25, and it appears Johnson currently only has two choices: show up or hold out. If he does hold out, he could be fined $30,000 a day. This will be an interesting development to keep an eye on as camp approaches.
