Marian Gaborik breaks collarbone in first game back from knee injury
Looking to make a push into the Eastern Conference playoff race, the Columbus Blue Jackets figured they would be getting a major weapon back into their lineup to help that push today, as All Star winger Marian Gaborik was returning after missing 17 games with a sprained knee.
The good news: Gaborik was in long enough to assist on the game’s opening goal, a Ryan Johansen tally that gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead over Philly.
The bad news: Gaborik broke his collarbone on that very same play, getting hit by the Flyers’ Zac Rinaldo and Brayden Coburn as he got off a shot that would end up rebounding to Nick Foligno, who dished it off to Johansen for the goal. Gaborik is now out indefinitely.
