Mike Ribeiro signs four-year deal with Phoenix
After one season away, Mike Ribeiro is headed back to the Western Conference. He spent last season with the Washington Capitals after being traded by the Dallas Stars, the team he’d spent the previous six NHL seasons with. And now, he’s headed West again, having signed a four-year deal worth a reported $22M, according to ESPN.
Phoenix has been looking to improve an offense that ranked 21st in the NHL last year- and that’s something the 33-year-old Ribeiro can definitely help with. He averaged a point-per-game last year with the Capitals (49 in 48 games), and enjoyed three 70+ point seasons in Dallas. Known for his set-up skills and dazzling shootout moves, Ribeiro has 609 points (186 goals, 423 assists) in 785 career NHL games.
Prior to his stints with Washington and Dallas, Ribeiro played for the Montreal Canadiens, of whom he was a second-round draft choice back in 1998.
