Sabres sign Jake McCabe
— Buffalo Sabres (@BuffaloSabres) April 2, 2014
The Buffalo Sabres have signed prospect, Jake McCabe, to a three year entry level contract today. Tim Murray announced yesterday on wgr550 out of Buffalo that McCabe would be joining the team for the remainder of the year after he signed his contract. McCabe will help out in the final two weeks on defense for the Sabres, who have struggled to limit shots on goal.
McCabe is a 6’1″ left handed defenseman out of Wisconsin. He had just finished up his shopomore season for the Badgers, where he wore the A on his sweater and was named to the Big 10 all first team. McCabe is a 2012 draft pick of the Sabres 44th overall. The strengths McCabe bring to the team are his excellent vision and hockey mind, his stick work and rough play in the defesive end, and his skating ability. These attributes will be a much needed addition to the Sabres, who seem to struggle to clear the puck at times.
Look for McCabe to join the team by Thursday, as they take on the St. Louis Blues. This will also be the first time the Sabres face Ryan Miller and Steve Ott, who were traded at the trade deadline last month.
