Stars trade D Robidas to Ducks
The Dallas Stars have dealt 37-year-old defenseman Stephane Robidas to the Anaheim Ducks for a conditional fourth-round draft choice in 2014. Robidas, who broke his leg on Nov. 29 but is expected to be back by mid-March, is a 14-year NHL veteran who spent the last nine seasons in Dallas. He was set to become a free agent this July.
The fourth-round draft choice that Dallas received will become a third-rounder if the Ducks win two playoff series, and Robidas plays in 50% of Anaheim’s postseason contests. While he’s not the offensive force that he once was (his point totals have declined since he notched a career-high 41 points in 2009-10), he’s a steady veteran presence who can play in all situations.
For his career, Robidas has 55 goals, 191 assists for 246 total points and a +5 rating in 871 NHL games.
