WATCH: Reto Berra makes his entry for save of the year

  • Joe Ray

While goaltending has been an issue for the Calgary Flames most of this season, Swiss product Reto Berra has taken a hold of the Flames’ starting spot. If he can keep making saves like this, he most certainly will be a fixture in net for Calgary going forward.

In the first period of the Flames’ game Wednesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Berra made a show-stopping save on Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson, who received a wonderful cross-ice pass from teammate Ryan Johansen. As you can see in the video from NHL.com below, Berra sprawls out with his legs and basically does a sideways bicycle kick. By year’s end, this should definitely be one of the top three saves we will see in this whole NHL season.
