Youngest Staal Joins Brothers in Raleigh
For the first time in their son’s NHL careers, Harry and Linda Staal will not have to be in two arenas at one time cheering for three different children. The Carolina Hurricanes have called up the youngest member of the Staal Clan, Jared, from the Charlotte Checkers of the AHL as per the team’s website. The 22 year old Thunder Bay, Ontario native registered 7 points (4 g, 3 a) in 52 games with the Checkers this season.
The former Sudbury Wolves forward will be making his NHL debut tonight as the ‘Canes travel to Madison Square Garden
to take on Marc Staal and the New York Rangers. While Marc has been practicing with the team, he is unable to play tonight due to still recovering from his eye injury he sustained back in March.
Eric, Jordan, and Jared become only the fourth trio of brothers to play in the NHL and the first since Peter, Anton, and Marian Stasney did it for the Quebec Nordiques in 1985.
