Houston Astros minor league coaches dotted with major leaguers 75

For all the jokes that the Astros are essentially a AAA team, at least the got some major league credentials in the minor league coaching ranks.  The Astros announced their coaching staffs for their minor league system and several familiar names, even all stars, emerged.  An interesting addition is former rookie of the year and two-time All Star Vince Coleman, who will be the outfield/baserunning coach at Quad Cities (Low-A).  Vince is, of course, best known for his 752 career steals and while minor league stolen base phenom Delino Deshields Jr. has surpassed this level, they certainly will get a lot of time working together in Spring Training/Kissimmee.  Other additions include more recent major leaguers (and members of the 2005 NL Champion team) such as former All Star Morgan Ensberg (High-A Lancaster, Infielders) and Adam Everett (rotational infield development).  Continuing with the Astros is four-time All Star and five-time Gold Glove winner Cesar Cedeno, one of the Astros greats of the early 1980’s.  Cesar will work with the Rookie Leaguer Gulf Coast Astros.

The Astros are let’s just say more than a year away, but, along with the prospects acquired via the dismantling of their aging team of 2-years ago, seem to be putting the right people in the right place to develop their talent going forward.  Time will tell!
