Yankee fans can relax for a day as Derek Jeter and Alfonso Soriano solidified a home win by providing the long ball.  It was Derek’s first game back since his second stint on the DL this season and he didn’t waste much time.  He took Tampa Rays pitcher, Matt Moore, first pitch and hits his usual opposite field home run.  Jeter ended the day going 2 for 4 and scoring twice. Here’s a look at Jeter’s first home run of the year.

It got even better for the Yankee fans as Alfonso Soriano was in a groove offensively Sunday afternoon.  After going 0 for 8 in his two games, Soriano collected four hits.  He hit his first home run since returning to New York and had a RBI single to win the game.  Here’s a look at Soriano’s third inning two run shot also against Matt Moore.

New York hadn’t had a home run from a right-hand batter since June 25.  Yankees went on to beat the Rays 6-5 to avoid the sweep.
