WATCH: Tampa Bay Rays catcher Jose Lobaton hits walk off home run into ray tank 86

For the Tampa Bay Rays, ALDS Game 3 started with a dramatic game-tying 3-run home run by 3-time All-Star 3B Evan Longoria, and ended with a dramatic walk-off home run by relatively obscure backup catcher Jose Lobaton to get the Rays first win in the series and stave off elimination.  Lobaton was inserted as part of a double switch in the pitchers spot, because the Tampa Bay Rays had surrendered their Designated Hitter Matt Joyce when he had to take the field for injured Wil Myers.  The Venezuelan-born Lobaton teed off on usually unhittable Boston Red Sox closer Kohi Uehara, who had only allowed 1 ER since July 1.  Watch, as Lobaton sends the Uehara offering into the tank housing live rays in right-center field (via MLB.com)

Uehara had breezed through the first two Rays 9th inning hitters with ease after the Red Sox had evened the game in the Top of the 9th.  Lobaton had hit all of 7 HR in 277 AB, with a meek .249 average in the regular season.  But he is the hero today in Tampa and has gotten the Rays within a game of the Red Sox with their first win against two losses..  And we press on to Game 4 tomorrow.
