Base hits have been know to go off the glove, foot, hand, or even head. But not often inside the shirt. Texas Rangers Rougned Odor ROOG-ned o-DOOR did everything right in terms of positioning his body in front of a relatively normal chopper from Houston Astros 3B Matt Dominguez. Problem was, he didn’t button that top button of his shirt. And the ball found it’s way inside. Watch the ground and reaction, and no way to score it, but a hit (via MLB.com).
At least there wasn’t a no-hitter going! The Rangers won easy in Houston 4-0, and Odor hit his first career home run, becoming the first ever major league player to hit his first career home run and lose a ground ball in his shirt in the same game!
