Bills coach says Lions fans used laser pointers to distract kicker Dan Carpenter
Dan Carpenter may have had his best NFL moment today as the Buffalo Bills kicker nailed a 58 yard game winning field goal with seconds left in the fourth quarter. However, the game could have had some controversy if Detroit Lions kicker Alex Henery would have made his potential game winning 50 yard field goal attempt. This is because during the third quarter, Carpenter missed a 50 yard field goal that bounced off the upright while a laser was pointed at him according to Bills coach Doug Marrone.

Now, a 50 yard field goal isn’t exactly considered a chip shot, but many NFL kickers can make this attempt at a fairly high rate. Carpenter was upset after the kick and clearly voiced his frustrations as referee Craig Wrolstad had to direct him back to the Buffalo sideline. Fortunately, this didn’t come back to haunt the Bills, but the Lions may have to increase their security measures in the future so this type of incident doesn’t change an outcome of a game.
