Carmelo Anthony finally weighed in on his opinion of the Jeremy Lin saga. To be fair to him, the New York Knicks were hit with a curve ball when the Houston Rockets upped their ante on the offer sheet Lin signed. ‘Melo called the third year of the contract ridiculous, in which Lin would be averaging around 15 million dollars during that final year.
For a point guard who’s had 25 career starts, I think the majority would agree with Carmelo on this one. Also, Jeremy Lin struggled against some of the top teams in the Eastern Conference like the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls. Speaking of point guards, when Melo was asked by Brooklyn Nets writer Rod Boone who writes for newsday.com, what he thought about the current point guards situation, Anthony replied:
“I mean, what other point guards are we going to get at this point?”
Doesn’t sound like the Knicks best player is exactly thrilled with the idea of playing with an over the hill point guard in Jason Kidd or an overweight point guard in Raymond Felton. However, Felton did flourish during his brief time spent with the Knicks and has much more experience at the point guard position than Jeremy Lin. Carmelo did end with saying he’d love to have Jeremy Lin back in a Knicks uniform.
