Bryan Hoch just reported on twitter that CC Sabathia will be placed on the disabled list with a Grade 1 groin strain. He will not be able to go back onto the mount until after the All-Star break. This is devastating news for the Yankees, and their fan because Sabathia shows the potential to go the distance each and every night. He’s a workhorse and can give the bullpen a nice day or close to it every fifth day.

On the bright side, Sabathia hasn’t been the Yankees best pitcher as of late. While he’s always given the Yankees a chance to win, Sabathia believes he can pitch much better. The rest of the Yankees staff has put up better numbers. For instance Ivan Nova has a 1.27 ERA in June, and Hiroki Kuroda has a 2.38 ERA in June. The entire Yankees staff combined ERA for this month is 2.65.
CC’s June ERA is 3.03, above the Yankees team average.
The other negative is that Freddy Garcia is back in the rotation. We’ll see how he does, but the Yankees are in good shape right now with or without CC. Well for now.
