Charles Barkley sounds off on Deron Williams and the Brooklyn Nets
Brooklyn Nets point guard Deron Williams has had a rough tenure with the Nets franchise since being traded from the Utah Jazz. The 29-year-old point guard is having his worst year in the NBA since his rookie season and has admitted to losing his confidence. TNT analyst Charles Barkley is never afraid to speak his mind and confirmed much more about Deron Williams than just “confidence.” Barkley says that D-Will’s best days are behind him and he’ll never display the same form he once had as a member of the Utah Jazz.
Shortly after saying the Nets “aren’t good at all” during an interview on ESPN Radio’s “Mike & Mike” on Thursday, Barkley went off on Deron Williams on a TNT conference call with reporters.
“Deron Williams has been hurt a lot the last couple of years,” Barkley said. “He’s never going to get back to Utah. His best days are behind him.”
Barkley then explained that it’s just a two-team race in the Eastern Conference.
“I don’t think they’re any good at all,” Barkley said. “Listen, you only got two teams in the East, you got the Heat and you got the Pacers. I actually think probably the Washington Wizards are the third-best team in the Eastern Conference.
“I could get on here and lie to you, but listen, it’s the Heat and the Pacers. Nobody else is any good … or worth talking about to be honest with you.”
