What the Indianapolis Colts and rookie phenom Andrew Luck have achieved so far in 2012 can already be deemed a success. Few analysts picked the Colts to win five games or even be competitive, given they had shaky personnel on defense, a rookie quarterback and a first-year head coach. And this was before that coach, Chuck Pagano, was diagnosed with leukemia in September, and the team’s reins were abruptly then handed to interim coach Bruce Arians.

Well, if the playoffs started today the Colts would be the five seed in the AFC, and it is evident the team is rallying around Chuck Pagano and it’s quite possible they could make a playoff run. To further the cause and show their support for Pagano, several Colts players have already shaved their heads and many more are expected to follow suit, according to NBC Sports Pro Football Talk.
Colts owner Jim Irsay said on Twitter:
Chuck Pagano’s situation is a humbling reminder that real life exists beyond the football field, and it’s nice to see Colts players rallying to give their coach something special in such a trying time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Pagano, his family, his friends, and we wish him a speedy recovery!
