Could James Harrison reunite with the Pittsburgh Steelers?
After one season with the Cincinnati Bengals, current free agent and former Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison dropped a hint that he’d like to return to Pittsburgh to finish his career.
Harrison appeared on NFL Total Access alongside Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor as a part of NFL Network’s “Dynasty Week”, which is featuring the Steelers. When the question arose on where he would like to play next, Taylor answered “Pittsburgh!” for Harrison, to which Harrison coyly agreed.
As a Pittsburgh fan, I would love to see Harrison come back and retire a Steeler. Taylor himself recently took a massive pay cut to ensure he would retire there, and if he can convince Harrison to do the same, we just may see the Immaculate Reunion. Harrison played the bulk of his career with Pittsburgh, and is one of the best defensive players of the last decade.
From a personnel standpoint, Harrison could back-up and mentor second-year man Jarvis Jones, who is expected to do big things in 2014. The Steelers could do worse than adding Harrison for sentimental and depth purposes. We’ll see if this speculation comes to fruition in the coming weeks.
