Red Sox Lackey on Nelson Cruz: “I’ve got nothing to say about him”
When Red Sox pitcher, John Lackey, talked to reporters following Saturday’s 7-4 loss to the Baltimore Orioles, he was asked about the O’s Nelson Cruz. Cruz, just had a monster night going 3 for 3 on Lackey (a single, double and home run) en route to a 5 hit night.
Lackey’s comments were simple and straight to the point. He said:
I’m not even going to comment on him. I’ve got nothing to say about him. There are some things that I would like to say, but I’m not going to. You guys forget pretty conveniently about stuff.
The comments may have been “pleading the 5th,” however we all know that he was referring to Nelson Cruz’s 50 game suspensions for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal last year. Regardless of this being a new year, with Cruz leading the Majors in home runs, some have to think that he could possibly still be on some type of performance enhancing drugs. How this plays out the rest of the season will remain to be seen.
The Baltimore Orioles seem to see no issue as they were directly involved with last years Biogenesis scandal. Danny Valencia was one of the players named in the scandal and was one of the two players that were exonerated along with Washington Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez.
