WATCH: Brycer Harper gets picked off badly at first
Everyone can remember Willy Mays Hays from the movie “Major League.” He was as fast as could be, but an absolute bonehead on the base paths (early in the movie). Well, minus being told that his shoe was untied by the first baseman, Bryce Harper was caught in a similar manner at first base Sunday afternoon.
Harper had already been thrown at two previous times, and he walked back safely to the base with a small lead. However, as pointed out by color analyst F.P. Santangelo, it looked as though Harper was ready to steal second base. Harper tried to dive back to first as Brewers pitcher Yovanni Gallardo, but his foot came out from under him and lets just say it wasn’t pretty. Check out the vine below.
