WATCH: J.J. Hardy lead O’s to victory with 12th inning single
It’s no secret that Orioles’ shortstop J.J. Hardy hasn’t been having the greatest of seasons. Actually by most, if not all standards, Hardy’s season has been dismal. Yes the shortstop is hitting a solid .290 batting average, but his two home runs are tied for worst on the team by players who have played more than 50 games (only David Lough has hit 2 homeruns this season but sports a worse baa with .190)
But Hardy played the hero in today’s series finale in Boston, driving in the game winning RBI in the 12th. With a man on 3rd, Hardy drove an Edward Mujica pitch into left field scoring, ironically, David Lough, who hit his first extra base hit (a tripple none the less) since June 7th.
The O’s finished the first half of the season eight games over .500 (48-40) and hold a 2 game lead over second place Toronto.
