WATCH: Steven Pearce’s amazing catch against Mariners

  • Michael Prosser

With the Orioles in a dog fight in the AL East, every win counts. And no win was bigger than today’s win at SAFECO Field against the Seattle Mariners.

With the Orioles ahead in the standings by 2 1/2 games, and the Blue Jays beating the Yankees earlier in the day, the O’s needed to pull one out to keep their lead at three games, and Steven Pearce (not to be confused with Steven Pearcy of the 80’s heavy metal band Ratt) did his part with his spectacular catch in the 4th inning.

With the score tied at 1 and the M’s Logan Morrison at the bat, Pearce had little regard for his body with his diving catch, running from left-center all the way to the foul line for the grab. Had Pearce not made the catch, who knows how far the speedy Morrison would have gotten?

O’s reliever T.J. McDonald picked up the win today while Zach Britton fanned the side for his 20th save of the year.
