REPORT: Wizards to sign guard John Lucas III
ESPN’s Marc Stein is reporting that the Washington Wizards are close to signing veteran guard John Lucas III in a deal to strengthen the teams backcourt options. This is not the first time the Wizards have shown interest in the Washington, D.C. born player and son of former NBA player and coach John Lucas.
The move would boslter a Wizards backcourt that will be missing shooting guard Bradley Beal for about six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair an inured wrist. With Glenn Rice Jr. also nursing injury, the Wizards backcourt is thin with John Wall, Andre Miller, and Garrett Temple the only healthy options for Randy Wittman to call on.
Lucas III has career averages of 4.8 points, 1.4 assists, and 1.0 rebounds per game in his six year career.
