Wizards’ Wall thinks team has “the pieces” for playoffs
Washington Wizards star point guard John Wall is finally healthy again. With his health and his new max contract comes expectations. John Wall told ESPN.com:
The goal is the playoffs, we’ve got the pieces.
John Wall has been hampered by injuries early in his career and his teammates have seen the same injury bug this season. They have already lost forward Chris Singleton and center Emeka Okafor for parts of the 2013-2014 season. Wall acknowledged the injuries saying:
That’s the only thing that can hold us back, health.
The addition of veteran Al Harrington and the possible addition, if he makes the team, in Josh Childress will really help to bolster the bench with veterans who have been in the playoffs before. With Wall healthy last year, the team went 24-25. He missed the first 33 games with a knee injury and the team looked much different with out him.
With the expectations of filling the shoes of a lucrative max contract and being his 4 year in the league, it is refreshing to hear Wall talk about the playoffs. Some guys get paid and relax, it seems as though Wall got paid and wants to earn his dues.
