Baltimore Ravens cut TE Shiancoe
Less than a month ago tight end Visanthe Shiancoe signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent, now he is cut from their roster. Shaincoe signed with the Ravens in late July after Dennis Pitta was sidelined with a fractured hip. So far this season, Shiancoe has only played during the preseason and currently has five recorded catches. With Dallas Clark being added to the roster just recently, Shiancoe evidently becomes useless to the team.
Shiancoe is a former Minnesota Vikings’ starter who agreed to a one-year, nonguaranteed $940,000 contract early during training camp. Although Visanthe is a 10 season NFL veteran it is becoming more and more likely that he will retire in the near future.

With the Ravens needing to get their roster down to 75 players by Tuesday, the coaching staff has already released 11 other players. Running back Damien Berry, wide receiver Rashaad Carter, offensive lineman Jack Cornell, inside linebacker Bryan Hall, offensive lineman Ramon Harewood, cornerback Moe Lee, offensive tackle David Mims, defensive end Will Pericak, wide receiver Gerrard Sheppard, wide receiver Tommy Streeter and outside linebacker Meshak Williams. Harewood (2010) and Streeter (2012) were former Ravens’ draft picks.
