Ravens acquire OT Eugene Monroe from the Jaguars
The Baltimore Ravens made moves to improve their porous offensive line on Tuesday night when they acquired starting left tackle Eugene Monroe from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a fourth and fifth round pick in the 2014 draft, per NFL insider Ian Rapoport.
Monroe was the eight overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft. He played college football at Virginia. Monroe stands at 6′ 5″ and weighs 306 lbs. He has graded out as one of the top left tackles in the league during his career with the Jaguars.
The Jaguars drafted Luke Joeckel with the second overall pick in the 213 NFL Draft. Joeckel had been playing at right tackle and the Jaguars obviously felt that they could trade away their former first round pick and start Joeckel in his place.
The Ravens offensive line has been bad so far this season, allowing a total of 12 sacks through four games. Acquiring a player of Eugene Monroe’s caliber would be a great improvement over current starting left tackle, Bryant McKinnie.
