Ravens give third-string running back first-team reps over Ray Rice
With all of the legal troubles faced by the Baltimore Ravens this offseason, coach John Harbaugh has sent a message. With back-up running back Bernard Pierce not participating in team OTA drills (due to his recent shoulder surgery), coach Harbaugh plugged third-string and journeyman running back Justin Forsett into the top running back spot.
Ravens’ starting running back from last season, Ray Rice, has been at the forefront of legal issues that has plagued the Baltimore Ravens this offseason. Rice has plead not guilty to assaulting his then fiance and current wife, while out together. It seems as though Harbaugh is putting Rice on notice that the team doesn’t necessarily need him to win games.
Forsett has had some starting duties while at Jacksonville and could be a serviceable back-up to Pierce when he is 100% back from shoulder surgery. Ray Rice had better be on the straight and narrow or else he could be forced to find himself a new place to call home.
