RGIII To Start Week 1

Robert Griffin III has been cleared to play and will be the starter for the Redskins against the Eagles

He’s back!

Yes Redskins fans Robert Griffin III has been cleared to play by Dr. James Andrews and will be the starter for the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on September 9th as per ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

On Tuesday it was announced by RGIII himself that he felt 100% healthy and that he was ready to play if cleared. September 9th will be 8 months to the day since Griffin’s surgery to repair torn ligaments in his knee that occurred in the griffin-knee-4_3_r560NFC Divisional Round game against the Seattle Seahawks.

While this comes as no surprise that Griffin will start, one has to wonder how well he’ll be able to shake off the rust of Summer having not played a single snap in the preseason.  Will he be the same RGIII that lead the Redskins to become NFC East Champions? Will he be better than he was last season? Or will he be what some fear; slower, cautious, and injury prone? Only time will tell but one thing is for certain: Robert Griffin III is the starting QB for the Washington Redskins and he will play on Monday Night Football against their hated rivals the Philadelphia Eagles.
