Game 3 has come and gone. There were some players who gained ground and those that lost it due to performance and/or injuries. With some key starters not playing due to minor injuries, the back ups got their best chances to shine in the so called dress rehearsal for the regular season. Here is my updated 53 man roster.

RB: Alfred Morris, Roy Helu, Chris Thompson, Keiland Williams

FB: Darrell Young

WR: Pierre Garcon, Josh Morgan, Aldrick Robinson, Leonard Hankerson, Santana Moss

TE: Fred Davis, Logan Paulsen, Jordan Reed, Niles Paul

OT: Trent Williams, Tyler Polumbus, Tony Pashos, Tom Compton

OG: Chris Chester, Kory Lichtensteiger, Adam Gettis, Josh LeRibeus

C: Will Montgomery

DEFENSE:

DE: Jarvis Jenkins*, Stephen Bowen, Kedric Gholston, Phillip Merling

DT: Barry Cofield, Chris Neild, Chris Baker

OLB: Brian Orakpo, Ryan Kerrigan, Rob Jackson*, Darryl Tapp, Brandon Jenkins

MLB: London Flethcer, Perry Riley, Nick Barnett, Bryan Kehl

CB: DeAngelo Hall, Josh Wilson, E.J. Biggers, David Amerson, Chase Minnifield

SS: Brandon Meriweather, Reed Doughty

FS: Bacarri Rambo

SPECIAL TEAMS:

K: Kai Forbath

P: Sav Rocca

LS: Nick Sundberg

* indicates suspension for first 4 games

Bold and Italics indicates change from previous projection

Well there is a changes or two from the last roster projection after the Steelers game, but not many. On offense, the increased work load of Keiland Williams has me thinking that he will make the roster. With Richard Crawford injured, Chris Thompson seems like the most logical choice at punt returner as well as kick returner. Jawan Jamison has played sparingly so he will likely be stashed on the practice squad ala Ryan Torain. Other than the addition of Williams, barring any injury the rest of the offense is set.

On defense, there are two changes. As highlighted, Chase Minnifield is on the roster. With Crawford going down, this opens the door for Minnifield and with his potential talent, there’s no way he’d make it off waivers to the practice squad. I left DeJon Gomes off the roster for a couple reasons. Although this will leave the team thin at safety, I don’t see where the team will thin the heard on offense to keep Williams. Also, DeAngelo Hall can play safety if need be. Amerson has shown he can step up and play against the starters on the opposing team, so Hall could go to free safety if called upon. Although the team could elect to keep Gomes and cut Merling if they think Chris Baker is enough depth in the duration of Jarvis Jenkins suspension.

Special teams doesn’t at all change. Forbath is a lock, Rocca has no competition in camp and Sundberg is irreplaceable. Chris Thompson is likely the #1 candidate for both kick and punt returns, simply put they will not keep a player just for his return ability, so sorry Skye Dawson. The Brandon Banks experiment won’t work on this team, there’s too much talent available to keep a one trick pony.
