The Washington Capitals season ended prematurely this year and star right winger, Alexander Ovechkin, headed to the World Championships to play for his home country Russia. Today in a game versus Germany, Ovechkin was injured in an open ice hip check by German left winger, Markus Kink.

According to Stephen Whyno, of the Canadian Press, when Kink was asked about the hit by Russian reporters, he stormed off. Ovechkin, according to Whyno, left the arena and went to the hospital. This definitely is not a good sign. Here is a video of the hit.
