Alexander Ovechkin’s father suffers an apparent heart attack
This has been a rough day and a half for Capitals’ right wing Alexander Ovechkin. After being bounced out of the Olympics by Finland, his father has suffered what appears to be a heart attack as reported by Katie Carrera of the Washington Post. She posted this on twitter:
McPhee says Ovechkin’s father had what is believed to be a heart attack, underwent surgery but is stable. Not sure when Ovi will be back

With the Capitals not picking back up until February 27th, Ovechkin has plenty of time to take care of his father back in Russia. Mikhail Ovechkin (Alex’s father) is known for attending all of Ovechkin’s home games and is oft pictured with many of the fans that attend games at the Verizon Center.
