Caps equipment staff misspells Grabovski’s name

  • Michael Prosser

What an interesting last couple of weeks for Mikhail Grabovski.

After a much anticipated return to his former team the Toronto Maple Leafs, he gets clipped in the face by a skate blade and scores the eventual shootout winner. Flash forward to the Capitals visit to Long Island where Grabovski sets up the game winning Alexander Ovechkin goal in overtime. But after a return back to the friendly confines of Verizon Center, Grabovski was welcomed with the gift that keeps on giving; a misspelled jersey.

Yes during warm up’s before the Capitals’ game against the Carolina Hurricanes, Grabovski was dawning a red sweater with the name “Grabovsky” on it’s back, making the usual “I” a “Y” causing the staff to hustle to fix their rather startling faux pas before the opening faceoff.

The Caps bad luck got worse as the night progressed, giving up three goals in under five minutes in the second period in rout to a 4-1 loss.
