Yes folks it’s not a typo! Joel Reclichz, affectionately called “The Recker” by fans and foes alike, took his hands out of the ice box and showed off his scoring ability in last nights 4-3 shootout victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
Known for his fists of fury, Reclichz skated to center ice, flew down the pipe, and tucked a back hand shot right past goalie Ray Emery for the game winner. For a guy who’s only registered one assist in 26 career NHL games this is beyond huge! Even teammate Garret Mitchell was stoked about this!
The Caps shot out to a 2-0 lead only to blow it when newest Flyer Vinny Lacavalier tied the game at 2 and Jason Akeson put the Flyers up one. But Ryan Stoa was able to add some late heroics of his own tying the game at 3 with only 38 seconds to play before overtime, which remained scoreless leading to Recker’s shootout goal.
