Home Run Derby contestants home run breakdown
On Monday July 15, the AL and NL will face off in the annual MLB Home Run Derby. Representing the AL is Baltimore Orioles first baseman (league leader in home runs) Chris Davis, Detroit Tigers first baseman Prince Fielder, New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and Oakland Athletics outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. Representing the NL is Colorado Rockies outfielder Michael Cuddyer, New York Mets third baseman David Wright, Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Pedro Alvarez and Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper.
Combined the AL contestants have hit 89 home runs this season while the NL contestants are lagging behind with only 66. Regardless, there will be a show going on at Citi Field Monday night as there are always a few surprise batters for both the good and bad.
