Report: Orioles willing to trade Matt Wieters
According to a tweet from Ken Rosenthal, the Baltimore Orioles are willing to trade catcher Matt Wieters, who is two years from free agency. Wieters is considered a top-five talent at the position. Chris Davis, who led the majors in home runs, is also two years away from free agency and the speculation is mounting that he could also be up for trade at some point.
Both players are represented by agent Scott Boras, who is a powerhouse that always gets his players the maximum deal. Given Orioles’ owner Peter Angelos’ history of not spending money, it could be tough for the O’s to hold onto both guys. Coming off an 85-77 season, it looks like the Orioles may never continue to progress to become serious contenders if the trend of losing their studs continues.
