WATCH: Nationals’ Souza Jr. slams hard into outfield wall

  • DC's Finest S.K.

In his second career start for the Washington Nationals, Steven Souza Jr. was expecting to play all 9 innings of the game against the Atlanta Braves. Unfortunately for Souza, the right field wall had other plans for him.

In a 4-0 game in the bottom of the 2 innings, Braves slugger Freddie Freeman hit a shot to right field. Feeling young and ambitious to make the play, Souza went full steam towards the wall trying to make the grab. The ball went over the fence and Souza laid at the base of the fence dazed and confused. He did walk off the field, however, but was replaced immediately after the inning ended.
