Donald Sterling’s girlfriend allegedly said she’ll “get even” at Sterling for lawsuit

Donald Sterling’s girlfriend apparently vowed to “get even”

The Los Angeles Clippers are in the middle of a tough playoff series and now have to deal with the distraction of their owner who allegedly made racist comments. But now the plot thickens with new information being released by the Clippers who claim that Donald Sterling’s girlfriend embezzled more than $1.8 million and is currently a defendant in a lawsuit brought on by the Sterling family. Would this be enough for Sterling’s girlfriend to want to smear Sterling’s name and character which is already sketchy based off past allegations?

According to Clippers President Andy Roeser, the girlfriend, who is half black and Mexican, vowed to “get even” with Sterling. Roeser also said that statements made do not reflect Sterling’s “views, beliefs or feelings.”

Via Los Angeles Times:

“We have heard the tape on TMZ. We do not know if it is legitimate or [if] it has been altered. We do know that the woman on the tape — who we believe released it to TMZ — is the defendant in a lawsuit brought by the Sterling family alleging that she embezzled more than $1.8 million, who told Mr. Sterling that she would “get even.”  Mr. Sterling is emphatic that what is reflected on that recording is not consistent with, nor does it reflect his views, beliefs or feelings. It is the antithesis of who he is, what he believes and how he has lived his life. He feels terrible that such sentiments are being attributed to him and apologizes to anyone who might have been hurt by them. He is also upset and apologizes for sentiments attributed to him about Earvin [Magic] Johnson. He has long considered Magic a friend and has only the utmost respect and admiration for him — both in terms of who he is and what he has achieved. We are investigating this matter.”

Unfortunately for the Clippers, they are in the middle of a tough series against the Golden State Warriors and this distraction doesn’t appear to be going away anytime soon. For a team that has been historically bad, this is sad news considering the Clippers have a legitimate shot of competing for a NBA championship. Stay tuned…
