Aaron Curry: “No Longer a Raider”
Per a tweet from Aaron Curry’s Twitter feed, he has announced he has been released by the Oakland Raiders:
Curry, drafted 4th overall in the 2009 NFL draft by the Seattle Seahawks, was widely considered to be the best linebacker in his draft, and there was even speculation he could go as high as #1 overall. He signed a 6-year, $60 million contract, with $34 million guaranteed, the most ever guaranteed to a non-quarterback rookie in NFL history. In 35 games with the Seahawks, Curry recorded 130 solo tackles, 5.5 sacks, and four forced fumbles. After five games with the Seahawks in 2011, Curry was traded to the Raiders for 2012 7th round pick and a 2013 conditional pick. In 13 games spanning two seasons with the Raiders, Curry has recorded 33 solo tackles, 0 sacks and 0 forced fumbles. He played just two games this seasons, recording just one solo tackle.
