Aaron Hernandez asks for dismissal of Murder Charge
The biggest story to rock the NFL in quite some time started last year when former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was arrested and booked on charges in the shooting death of Odin Lloyd.
Since then he’s picked up more charges from attacking an inmate, threatening a guard and his family, and two more murder charges stemming from a 2012 double-murder that alleged Hernandez was the gun man.
The system has been moving at a slow pace since Hernandez plead not guilty in Lloyd’s death – and today his lawyers are preparing to ask the judge to dismiss the murder charge due to the fact that the prosecution still hasn’t provided probable cause that Hernandez was involved.
From Yahoo! Sports:
FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Former New England Patriots star Aaron Hernandez is to be arraigned on charges that he attacked a handcuffed inmate and threatened to kill a guard and his family while at a county jail in Dartmouth.
Also Monday, lawyers for Hernandez are expected to ask a judge to dismiss the murder charge he faces in connection with last June’s killing of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
Hernandez’s lawyers say the charges should be dismissed because prosecutors have failed to show probable cause that Hernandez killed Lloyd or even took part in the slaying.
Hernandez has maintained his innocence, continuing to write letters to fans letting them know he didn’t do it and he’ll be a free man.
With two more murders being tied to him as well as the other charges, it’s safe to say that he’ll be locked up for a long time as everything plays itself out.
