Aaron Ross: Playing for Jaguars was more of a Vacation

After helping the New York Giants win a Super Bowl, CB Aaron Ross was a hot commodity in free agency a year ago.

The team he headed to was the Jacksonville Jaguars, who looked to improve in their secondary. Things didn’t work as planned, and Ross didn’t have the success that he had in New York years prior.

He was released by the new regime this offseason and returned to the Giants where he played a big role in recent years.

So how was that year in Jacksonville?ross

“It was a nice paid vacation to Florida,” Ross said Friday on NFL Network’s NFL AM.

Ross signed a three-year deal worth over $15 Million to be a Jaguar, and it didn’t work out. He started nine games for the team in their 2-14 season, and he didn’t have a good time doing it.

“I had to think about the family, setting us up long-term, so of course the money comes to mind,” He said. “But winning is everything, man. It takes the joy away when you’re losing, and the only thing to get you through it is the paycheck when you’re losing.”

While his role was diminished in New York when CB Terrell Thomas was healthy, he knows that he might be in the same boat – but on a winning team, something he looks forward to, saying that he’s very happy it turned out this way and he’s back with the Giants.

He appeared in 14 games for the Jaguars and accounted for 46 tackles, with only three passes defended.
