He just rushed for 2,097 yards in 2012, nine yards short of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record; he wants to compete in the 2016 Olympics, return kicks and try coming off the edge to block a field goal, and he says he’s healthy enough for 12 more games. Only one man, the biggest freak athlete in all of football, could possibly do all of this: Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

“For the past two years, I’ve been trying to get in on field-goal block. Come in off the edge, you know?” Peterson said, via The Associated Press. “It’s just going to take one block for them to really be like, ‘OK, you know what? Let’s take the chance and let you go out there and get it done.’ Kickoff return, I wouldn’t mind getting back there. I’m in it to win.”

Peterson carried the ball 135 times in December in just four games — over thirty carries a game — and the Vikings have piggybacked those carries into the playoffs. Think he might be a little tired after putting the entire team on his back? Nope, not this guy. When Peterson was asked about playing games in the postseason, he surely wasn’t too worried.

“I feel good,” Peterson said. “My body feels great. I can play for 12 more games if I had to, seriously.”

At the most, Peterson is lined up for four more games, only if the Vikings can ride him all the way to the Super Bowl in New Orleans. The road to the Super Bowl starts on Saturday at Lambeau Field against the Packers, whom Peterson has had success against this season, with 409 yards in two games against the cheeseheads this season.

If Peterson’s ready for 12 more games, maybe the Vikings should give him a shot a punt or kick return if he is ready for it. There’s not many things that the newest member of the 2,000-yard-rushing club can’t do, so why not give him a shot.
