Adrian Peterson Says a Lion Accused Him of “Juicing”

  • Tad Johnson

Adrian Peterson surprised everyone by making a speedy recovery from a serious knee injury and absolutely dominating the NFL in 2012. Some people still think it’s too good to be true. According to Peterson, some of the opponents he played against in 2012 were among the non-believers.

Peterson, who ran for 2,097 yards in 2012 (nine yards short of the all-time single season record), says that in a game against Detroit a Lions linebacker made a comment about Peterson being on PED’s.

Peterson said a Lions linebacker asked him “Whatever you were juicing on, let me know. I need it.”

His response was actually pretty funny and shows what kind of player Peterson is. He told the linebacker (who remains unnamed at this time) that his juice of choice was “A lot of prayer. The juice of God.”

According to CBSsports.com, Peterson remained in contact with the unnamed linebacker and seems to have made an impact on him.

Peterson said the next time the two teams met, that player told him how what Peterson told him that day touched him.

“It was like turning a negative into a positive,” Peterson said. “To be honest with you, it makes me feel good when people say little stuff like that, and I’m sure it happens all the time. I guess I am performing that well that people think I’m juicing, that I am taking something. That really shows me how much God has blessed me to be able to come back and play the way I played. To me, it’s a compliment (the PED talk). I’ve always been an honest person. I never cheated the system. I am big on taking advantage of my natural abilities and applying work ethic to it to be able to climb the highest level. People make that decision to do that (PEDS), but I’m not that individual. I feel like I’d be cheating myself. And things I’ve accomplished would be void. That’s not what I am about.”

The first time Minnesota played the Lions in 2012, the Lions held him to 102 yards. The second time they played, though, he went off for 171 yards.

Peterson’s accomplishments in 2012 were incredible especially after his gruesome knee injury to end 2011. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s got high expectations for 2013.
