Over the weekend, former Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb signed a two year deal with the Buffalo Bills. Kolb was cut by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this off-season. Today, news broke that the Cardinals were looking to make a trade with the Oakland Raiders for quarterback Carson Palmer. With the addition of Drew Stanton to the team, via trade with the Indianapolis Colts, it became clear that the Arizona Cardinals wanted to start the 2013 season with a fresh start at quarterback.

With the addition of Drew Stanton and possibly Carson Palmer, the Arizona Cardinals have announced today that they have released quarterback Drew Stanton.

John Skelton had beat out former quarterback Kevin Kolb in training camp last season, before being injured in week one’s game.

Skelton came back from injury to take back the starting job from Kolb but was pulled due to poor performance.

The Cardinals are in desperate need of a quarterback after starting quarterbacks like Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Ryan Lindley and Brian Hoyer last season.

Combined, the quartet threw for twenty touchdowns, twenty-two interceptions and a shade over thirty-four hundred yards.
