Asante Samuel: “Andy Reid didn’t speak to me”

Apparently Asante Samuel has a bit of a problem with getting the cold shoulder from his old coach. Samuel’s Falcons put up a sound victory over Andy Reid’s Eagles on Sunday, 30-17. But it seemed like there was more than the result of the game on the mind of these two gentlemen, says Robert Littal of Black Sports Online.

Can you believe that? Andy Reid didn’t speak to me. Like it’s my fault, like what did I do to you? You know what I meant? I think it was the way we was dancing out there; it got to him a little bit.

You can’t always blame somebody. Sometimes you got to take the fall on yourself. Andy Reid, why didn’t you speak to me? What did I do to you man? I got nothing but love for you Big Red.

He wouldn’t speak to me, man, can you believe that? As happy as I am, he wouldn’t even tell me ‘Great game Asante, I love ya man.’

It’s not as if Samuel hadn’t taken some shots at his old team during the week leading up to the game. Samuel refused to talk to the Philadelphia media last week, which isn’t surprising considering the conditions of his departure. Reid also has some more problematic issues to deal with, such as his dwindling job security and a possible quarterback controversy between Michael Vick and Nick Foles.

Samuel was obviously set off by Reid’s actions, but he can’t be too disappointed as his Falcons controlled the entire game in Philadelphia and led the Falcons to their first 7-0 start in franchise history.
