Bengals Wide Receiver AJ Green Says, “We Lost to Freakin’ Cleveland!”

In an interview with Sirius XM NFL Radio’s Adam Schein and Rich Gannon, star wide receiver AJ Green lamented on their current record and missed opportunities versus previous opponents. After asked by Gannon on his thoughts about playing a team that has struggled on defense like the Kansas City Chiefs next week, Green had this to say:

“Like I said we can’t go into any game and think we’re just going to run over a team. You know, we lost to freakin’ Cleveland…Miami…so we can’t just look ahead, we just gotta go out there and play our game and see what happens”

After getting laughs from the hosts, Schein asked Green if the Cleveland loss bothered him the most:

“I think that’s the biggest one, we lost to Cleveland, one of those games we knew we should’ve won but we lost…those hurt the most…we knew we had a game but then we let it slip away”

Earlier in the interview, Schein and Gannon asked if the Bengals could get back in the race for the post season this year:

“I feel we can. I feel like we have the team…with that big win we had this Sunday, we have some momentum on our side…that’s the biggest thing, having momentum rolling into the playoffs.  That’s what the Giants did last year, so it’s all about the second half of the season getting that momentum on your side”

Gannon also asked how offensive coordinator Jay Gruden has influenced his game:

“Jay always talks about me pushing my depth and holding me accountable for everything I do…just not praising me for the good things I do…I need to be able to read the coverage better or be more patient on this routes…he’s always talking to me about what I need to do better.”

The Bengals made a big statement Sunday with their win over the Giants and as long as they don’t lose next week to the freakin’ Chiefs, they will still be in the talk for getting into the 2012 playoffs.
