Brady: “My mom thought it was a penalty.”
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has never been known to sulk around after a loss, and following Monday’s loss to the Panthers was no exception.
At the Wednesday press conference, reporters asked Brady if he’d seen a replay of the controversial non-pass interference call at the end of the close loss to Carolina in which Luke Kuechly bear-hugged Gronkowski away from a pass that the refs, after conversation, determined to be uncatchable. Brady responded with a chuckle before saying that he’d seen it a few times. The reporter followed by asking Brady if he has any final thoughts before moving on to Denver, to which Brady brilliantly replied, “No final thoughts. My Mom thought it was a penalty, does that count?”. Brady quickly followed that up by stating that the team is moving on to Denver.
When tight end Rob Gronkowski was asked about the call, he stated that his mom agreed with Brady’s mom. If two Patriots’ mothers say it was a penalty, it must be so.
The Patriots (7-3)face the 9-1, AFC-leading Broncos on Sunday Night Football this week.
