Brandin Cooks wins $100,000 for running fastest 40 time in Adidas cleats
Adidas ran a contest at the NFL Scouting Combine. The participant who ran the fastest 40-yard dash time while wearing cleats made by the German sports giant would be $100,000 richer. It wasn’t just any old Adidas cleat, it had to be the new Adidas 5-Star 40 cleat.
Some may wonder why Dri Archer, the Kent State running back who almost broke Chris Johnson’s six-year Combine 40-yard dash record with a time of 4.26 seconds – a mere 0.02 seconds slower than Johnson.. Archer wasn’t eligible since he wasn’t wearing the correct cleats.
Cooks also set a new Combine record in the 60-yard shuttle.
Several other players earned $10,000 for being the fastest players in their position group. These included Miami quarterback Stephen Morris (4.63), Missouri running back Henery Josey (4.43), Oregon tight end Colt Lyeria (4.61), Boston College linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (4.51) and Rice corner back Phillip Gains who almost won the big prize with a time of 4.38.
