BREAKING NEWS: Tom Brady’s Personal Quarterback Coach, Tom Martinez, Has Died

Per a report from Scott Isaacs, Executive Sports Producer at WCVB-TV in Boston, Tom Brady’s personal quarterback coach, Tom Martinez, has died from a heart attack while undergoing kidney dialysis.  He was 66 today.

Martinez coached at the College of San Mateo until he retired in 2005, citing declining health. The program has been known for its high-caliber coaches, and in addition to Martinez, legendary NFL coaches Bill Walsh and John Madden have also coached there. Brady has often praised Martinez and credited him for his contributions to his (Brady’s) success in the NFL. Brady continued to work with Martinez during the NFL off-seasons to improve his mechanics, despite Martinez’s retirement from active coaching. Martinez was the 1995 Community College Coach of the Year, is in the San Mateo Hall of Fame, and was a member of the State’s Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.
