BREAKING: Wide Receiver Vincent Jackson Signs Mega-Deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reached an agreement with free agent wide receiver Vincent Jackson on a 5-year, $55 million contract with $36 million guaranteed.  Jackson, perhaps the most sought after receiver of the 2012 free agent season, was drafted by the San Diego Chargers in the second round of the 2005 NFL draft. His relationship with the Chargers general manager, AJ Smith, was often contentious and he sat out until Week 11 of the 2010 NFL season after failing to secure a long-term deal with the team. Jackson played his final year with the Chargers under the franchise tag, and it was impractical from a salary cap standpoint for the Chargers to place the tag on him again ($13.7 million). Jackson immediately upgrades the Buccaneers receiving corps as one of the most versatile receivers in the league and he will give the team a down-the-field threat to go with quarterback Josh Freeman’s big arm.  Over his career,Jackson has amassed 272 receptions, 4,754 receiving yards, and 37 touchdowns in 92 games played.
