Brian Urlacher leaning towards the Vikings?
At 34 years of age and recently fighting the injury bug, former Chicago Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher isn’t the player he once was. Gone are the days when Urlacher dominated the middle and struck fear into the hearts of opposing running backs. However, just because he is no longer as dominant as he used to be doesn’t mean Urlacher won’t be an effective player still. The Bears didn’t bring him back for the 2013 campaign, and it looks like he may end up with one of their division rivals. Reports indicate the highest interest for Brian Urlacher is from the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings, with Urlacher leaning towards Minnesota.
The Chicago Sun-Times reported on Tuesday that Urlacher had interest from both the Vikings and the Broncos, and that he was leaning toward the Vikings.
The Sun-Times report came from gossip columnist Michael Sneed, who isn’t known for breaking NFL news, but we had previously heard that there was some contact between Urlacher and the Vikings, so seeing Urlacher in purple wouldn’t be a huge surprise.
Whatever happens, I imagine Urlacher will catch on with a squad before training camp begins even if only for depth and experience.
